NEW!… I’ve had lots of requests to write up my popular Mikki Simple Rib Hat for CHUNKY / US BULKY yarns… here it is for you!

This simple rib hat is a great basic for everyone’s winter wardrobe…. baby, boys, girls, teens, men and women!

Turn up the rib for a fitted hat with a double layer cuff, or wear it unfolded and tall for a young contemporary look.
The hats shown here have been knitted in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky (available to purchase via yarn.com USA/ lovecrafts.com UK)

Choose ANY CHUNKY / US BULKY yarn that recommends 6mm (US10) needles

AS THIS HAT IS KNITTED IN RIB YOU WILL GO DOWN A NEEDLE SIZE TO KNIT THIS HAT. This smaller needle size will give you a neat rib with elasticity and memory (it will bounce back).

The hats size instructions are written using the tension achieved with the smaller needle size of 5mm (US8)

Tension/ Worked in k2, p2 rib (with the smaller 5mm/US8 needle size used in this pattern)
Flat/un-stretched rib
26 sts = 10cms/4 inches
22 rows = 10cms/4 inches
Sizes
0-3 months (3-6 months, 6-12 months, 1-2 years, 3-5 years, 6-9 years, 10-12 years, Teen/Adult S, Adult M/L)

Separate detailed instructions are included to knit this hat either
FLAT PAIR OF SINGLE POINTED NEEDLES
/ or IN THE ROUND….. The choice is yours!

50 (60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 130, 150) gm - Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky
1 pair of 5mm (US8) single pointed needles / or DPNs / or fixed circulars
Darning/tapestry needle (for flat and seamed version)

When ordering alternative Chunky yarns /US Bulky yarns use the following yards / metres
