Michael is a 1960s inspired knit. It’s about capturing the essence of childhood and reflecting a child’s experience of that era.

Michael is a seamless cardigan, or vest, knit top-down. It starts with saddle shoulders and is constructed in an unusual but fun manner. Shoulders are shaped with simple German Short Rows. Michael has the option of being finished with or without sleeve. The sleeves are set-in with stitches picked up around the arm holes to work the sleeves with the sleeve caps shaped with short rows.

This simple styled cardigan is finished with some 60s inspired stripes for some retro stash busting.

The most popular name for a wee lad in the 60s was Michael. Chances are that if you were born in the 60s you may have had a mate or two named Michael. There’s nothing common about this Michael. They are a retro-harking sling-shot firing ragamuffin, happy to explore and enjoy childhood as it should be.
