The idea for this cowl started with a bright yellow skein of yarn, which reminded me of the symbol of the Circle line on London’s underground map, shown in yellow and looping around central London. The Tube really is a great way to get around in London and its map looks like an intricate pattern. The overall cable pattern used in this cowl, wants to represents the lines meeting at intersections to then again depart in different directions. The pattern was named after one of the underground’s stations on the Bakerloo line, Maida Vale, which opened in 1915 and was the first station to be staffed entirely by women.

The cowl is knitted in the round and features an all-over cable pattern, which you can work either from the chart or the written instructions.

Circumference approximately 60 cm (24”); 22 cm (8.75”) high. Circumference and height are adjustable.
