The month of may can bring many things, ideas, and feelings to us…but for me, this year, May signifies the recognition of “Star Wars Day” on the fourth of May, the beginning of our shawl mystery and ending our mystery with an acknowledgment of Douglas Adams and “Towel Day” (25 May). The Maia shawl is named after the Roman earth goddess, believed to be named Maia, who was married to Vulcan. I created this shawl with the intention to explore a new frontier: the nupp. I had never previously explored the nupp to this extent and persevered… going where someone has gone before and not in a galaxy far far away, I did not panic!

This is a semi circular shawl with no scifi stitches, but in fact, a variation of Lily of the Valley stitch, representing the traditional flower of May. It is knit top down and you may place beads (700, size 6/0 or 8/0) or nupps in the designated spots. It also has a leafy quality, knit in green for Spring or amber for the coming of Winter (be you in our Southern Hemisphere).

Le mois de mai peut nous apporter beaucoup de choses, des idees, et des sentiments… mais pour moi, cette annee, mai signie la celebration de “Star Wars Day” le 4 mai, le commencement de ce MKAL, et pour finir en reconnaissance le “jour de la serviette” de Douglas Adams(25 mai). Le nom du chale Maia vient de la deesse de la terre romaine, qui etait mariee a Vulcan. J’ai cree ce chale avec l’intention d’explorer de nouvelles frontieres: les noppes. Je n’avais auparavant jamais explore les noppes de cette facon et persevere… allant la ou d’autres sont deja alles et pas dans une galaxie tres tres lointaine, je n’ai pas panique!

Ce chale est semi-circulaire sans mailles de science-fiction, mais en fait, une variation de la maille muguet, represantant la fleur traditionnelle de mai. Il est triote de haut en bas et vous pouvez placer des perles (700, taille
6/0 ou 8/0) ou des noppes aux endroits designe. Le chale a aussi une qualite florale, tricote en vert pour le printemps ou de couleur ambre pour l’hiver prochain (au cas ou vous seriez dans notre hemisphere sud). (taille finale 180cm x 75cm)
