It is her birthday and Countess Madeleine is celebrating it at her chateau near Paris. In Richard Strauss’ final opera, Capriccio, Madeleine listens as her prospective lovers debate the virtues of music over poetry and theatre.
It is the 1920’s. Fittingly, the Countess wears an elegant and graceful shawl with an asymmetrical pattern, influenced by the Art Deco style of the period. Worked as a trapezoid, it is encircled by a simple edging of holes formed by double yarn overs.
Celebrate your special evening with just such a shawl.
