Made My Day cardigan
The cosiest of cardigans just in time for Autumn. The Made My Day cardigan pattern is intended to be used as a blank canvas for play with colour and texture, with the pleated sleeves and striped edgings providing modern details on a classic boxy cardigan.
NOTES
Yarn choices: sample is shown in a chunky / bulky weight mohair worked at a fairly loose gauge, where the ‘fuzz’ fills in the gaps between stitches.
Any yarn (or combination of yarns) that meets the gauge should work. A chunky / bulky weight yarn without fuzz will produce a denser fabric and thus heavier cardigan. Various combinations of yarn weights held together will also work well, such as Aran + laceweight fluff, 2 strands DK, Aran + 4ply, etc. Be sure to swatch to meet gauge and adjust needle size accordingly if necessary.
Striping: in this sample I worked the entire upper body in Yarn A, worked random stripes on the lower body and sleeves, and regular narrow stripes on the cuffs and neckband. Feel free to add stripes or colour blocks however you wish (or not at all!).
Sizing: choose a size based on how much ease you’d like the finished cardigan to have. The boxy shape means the body and sleeve lengths are easily adjusted, and the drop shoulders make for a forgiving fit around the upper body.
SIZES: 1 (2: 3: 4: 5) 6: 7: 8: 9 detailed below, designed to be worn with 1 - 3 inches / 2.5 – 7.5 cm positive ease. Sample shown is a size 2 worn on a 34” bust, with around 1 inch / 2.5 cm positive ease.
To fit bust: 28-30 (32-34; 36-38; 40-42; 44-46) (48-50; 52-54; 56-58; 60-62) inches / 71-76 (81-86; 91-97; 102-107; 112-117) (122-127; 132-137; 142-147; 152-157) cm.
Finished cardigan width: 21 (23; 25; 27; 29) (31; 33; 35; 37) inches / 53 (58; 64; 69; 74) (79; 84; 89; 94) cm.
