Maddala Shawl has been inspired by the Latvian stranded knitting tradition and the passage of the Sun throughout the seasons in Latvian folklore. It is sort of a homecoming to me - to return to the familiar, that was too heavy to lift and had been left dormant for too long. I’ve been dreaming of knitting this shawl for years, but it took some time to find the perfect yarn for it.

The shawl has a traditional triangular construction worked from neck down with increases along the sides and the center featuring stranded colourwork panels and picot edge bind-off. The colourwork is knit on right as well as on wrong side of the project.

The pattern has been thoroughly tech edited and test knitted.

The pattern requires skills to work from both - written instructions as well as colour charts.
