Lyra Reef
Level: Intermediate
Construction:
The sweater starts with a lace motif on the back knitted in the round. Then the sts of the front and back are worked at the same time. You can see on the photo how the colors gradually changed outward on the back and the front from the light to the darker. After reaching the width of the back all sts will be divided for the back and front. The front corners are finished separately. The sides are seamed ( the only seams in this sweater are on the sides). The sleeves are worked top down in the round.
Sizes: S( M, L, XL, XXL) will fit app bust size 34-36( 38-40, 42-44, 46-48, 50-52)”/ 85-90 (95-100, 105-110, 115-120, 125-130)cm. The positive ease is 16-12”/40-30cm. Look at finished sizes and decide how much ease you would like.
Finished Sizes: 50( 54, 57, 61, 64)”/ 125( 135, 143, 153, 160)cm
Length on the back: 26.5( 26.5, 26.5, 27, 28)”/ 66( 66, 66, 68, 70) cm
Sleeve length from underarm to cuff: 14 inches/ 35 cm (adjustable to desired length).
Yarn: You will need 1260 (1368, 1476, 1620, 1780) yards/ 1134 (1231, 1328, 1458,1602)m of any fingering yarn. I used the “Marianated Yarns” gradient sets. Be aware they come in different yardage sets.
For example for the Small size I used “Six Pack Perfection Gradient Set Scrumptious HT” 800 yds/200g (80% Superwash merino/ 10% Cashmere/ 10% Nylon) in Rock Quarry color, 1 skein “Scrumptious HT” (400 yds/100g) in Spelunking color and 1 mini skein (133yds/33g) in Spelunking color by “Marianated Yarns” (Marian was kind enough to send me an extra mini skein to finish the project). If you skip the curve shaping of the back for the Small size the gradient set and 1 skein might be enough to complete the sweater.
For Size XXL I used the “Six Pack Half Skein Gradient Set Scrumptious HT” 1200 yds/300g (80% Superwash merino/ 10% Cashmere/ 10% Nylon) in Mountain Majesties color and 2 skeins “Scrumptious HT” (400 yds/100g) in Hidden Peak by “Marianated Yarns” .
Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rows = 4’/10 cm in St sts in flat (alternate knit and purl rows);
24 sts and 36 rows = 4’/10 cm in St sts in the round (only knit sts).
Needles: for body : 3US/ 3.25 mm circular needle 16”/40cm, 40”/100cm length
