I have been dreaming for a cardigan with these long flattering lines for a while… One that will go with anything in my wardrobe.
Longline is my dream cardigan come true… It’s so fantastic and great to wear with its wide rib collar. With its simple lines, it is perfect to show off any yarn, but especially good for beautiful hand-dyed ones.
SIZES
XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL) to fit bust size 30 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)”.
Shown in size M on a 36” bust. Recommended ease: 0-2” (0-5 cm) of negative ease.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust circumference (worn closed with overlapping collar): 30 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60) inches; 75 (80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150) cm.
Upper arm circumference: 10¾ (12½, 13¼, 14, 15½, 16¾, 18, 18¾, 20) inches; 27 (31, 33, 35, 39, 42, 45, 47, 50) cm.
Length from underarm to hem: 20½ (21¼, 22, 22, 22¾, 22¾, 22¾, 23½, 23½) inches; 51 (53, 55, 55, 57, 57, 57, 59, 59) cm.
MATERIALS
Yarn: 4 (4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6) skeins of Mechita by Malabrigo (100% merino wool - 100g / 420y 384m) or approx.1470 (1590, 1760, 1850, 2015, 2180, 2270, 2430, 2520) yards 1340 (1460, 1610, 1690, 1840, 2000, 2075, 2230, 2305) m of fingering weight yarn. The sample was made in colorway Plomo (variegated gray).
Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 2½ (3 mm) circular needles.
Other notions: Stitch markers, stitch holders (or waste yarn), tapestry needle.
GAUGE
24 st and 39 rows to 4” (10cm) in Stockinette Stitch on US 4 (3.5mm) needles.
Note: Several people have found that they get holes in the shoulder area. This might depend on how you make your m1ps. I have found that some people place the strands of yarn on the needle in a way and some in other, which might lead to confusion. So I recommend that if you don’t like the way your shoulders are looking, you try looking at some of these tutorials:
