Longest Day Socks
The Twisted German (also called Old Norwegian) method was used to cast on the socks shown. A video tutorial is available at http://newstitchaday. You can also substitute the elastic method of your choice.
Instructions are written for using four double-pointed needles. You can substitute the needle configuration of your choice (one small circular, two circular, of the magic-loop method), keeping in mind that the back-of-leg/heel/sole stitches are divided between Needle 1 and Needle 3, and the front-of-leg/instep stitches are on Needle 2 in these instructions.
When picking up gusset stitches each side of the heel flap, pick up one stitch in each chain edge stitch and an additional two stitches into the leg to prevent a gap or hole forming at the top of the gusset.
If there only one number or measurement in the directions, it applies to both sizes.
To adjust for a longer or shorter foot, work more or fewer rounds before beginning the toe decreases.
