Lokum
Variegated sock yarn — we all love to buy it, but it can be hard to find the right shawl pattern to go with it. Lokum is the perfect pattern for the wildest of yarns. Worked sideways with a stitch pattern that changes the stitch count every row, this shawl prevents pooling and creates interesting texture at the same time.
Pattern is in written form. There are no charts in this pattern.
Pattern Notes
This shawl pattern was created for Done Roving Frolicking Feet Transitions yarn. With just one ball of yarn, you can create a shawl that contains 4 complementing colorways. Sample was worked by knitting the yarn starting from the inside of the ball.
When working the Body of Shawl section, only count stitches after working a WS row. The textured stitch pattern is created by adding stitches (yarn overs) on the RS row. The WS row of the Body of Shawl then decreases these stitches away.
On rows starting with BO 2 sts, there is 1 st on right-hand needle after binding off – this counts as the k1 that follows the binding off.
Want to make your shawl bigger? You can make your shawl larger by repeating rows 1-4 of the Body of Shawl section to desired length. Remember, adding length to your shawl will affect the amount of yarn needed.
Gauge is not critical in this pattern; however, a different gauge will affect yardage and size of shawl.
