Little Monroe
A simple, zigzag lace plays across an asymmetrical triangle, and there “choose your own ending” options. You can work a solid or a striped border, you can work a regular or picot bind off, and you can combine those however you want.
This is a good introduction to working lace for the Advanced Beginner.
The lace repeats are written out line by line, or you can follow the chart and add in new stitches to the pattern as you see fit.
What you need to know:
-
The finished measurements are a wingspan of 53.5” after blocking and a center back of 22.5” after blocking.
-
You will need 420 yards of Color A and about 20 yards of Color B if you’re going to do stripes at the end. The sample here is shown in Candlewick and Antler.
-
A US size 5 (3.75mm) 32” circular needle and a removable stitch marker are the notions you need.
Thanks to Mary for test knitting, and to Lisa for tech editing.
