Leandra Scarf
No knitted accessory says “winter” more clearly to me than a thick, lushly-cabled scarf. The Plucky Knitter’s Traveler Aran — a sumptuous blend of fine fibers — simply glows in the Leandra Scarf, providing softness, warmth, and beautiful stitch definition. Most of these cables can be easily worked without a cable needle, and Leandra can be combined with any of other pieces in The Virescent Collection to create a coordinating set.
This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.
Recommended Yarn:
The Plucky Knitter Traveler Aran, three skeins — 65% extra fine superwash merino / 20% mulberry silk / 15% yak — 220 yds (201 m) to 115 g. Shown in colorway Green Goddess. Sample used approximately 640 yds (567 m) / 321 g.
Sizing:
7” (18 cm) x 75” (190 cm), but length can be adjusted to personal preferences
Gauge:
29 sts and 25 rows in 4” in cable pattern, centered over large motif, washed and blocked
Needles:
US 6 (4 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) needles, straight or circular
PLEASE NOTE: I knit very tightly. I actually used US 7 (4.5 mm) and US 8 (5 mm) needles for my scarf, but knitters who are typically “on gauge” will likely wish to use US 6 (4 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) needles. Very loose knitters will likely wish to use US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 6 (4 mm) needles. Changes in gauge will affect finished size and amount of yarn used.
Other Materials:
One stitch marker, cable needle in appropriate size, tapestry needle.
Skills Needed:
Cabling, ribbing
