Lacy Leaves Mitts
You can wear these gorgeous fingerless gloves for warmth or as handmade jewelry. The beads add a sparkle against the matte finish of the wool yarn. To make your beads look like raindrops on a spring day, use clear beads or beads that match the color of your yarn closely. For a more dramatic look, choose beads that contrast starkly.
The leaf motif is inspired by a pattern stitch my Estonian friend Anna used to make a shawl. I added beads and knitted the stitch at a tighter gauge. With purl stitches separating the motifs, this pattern is quite stretchy. Although your gloves may look very small on the needles, they will stretch to fit your hand snugly, and the negative ease allows the pat- tern stitch to open up when the gloves are worn.
These gloves are worked in the round, using some techniques that may be familiar to you and some that may be new to you. I use double pointed needles, but if you know how to use 2 circulars needles or the magic loop method with one long circular, you can use either of those techniques.
