La Femme Belle
This pattern is available in English. Currently, I am working on the German translation. An automatic update will be sent once the German pattern version is uploaded.
La Femme Belle is a super flattering cardigan that is knit sideways in one piece. The plackets are knit by utilizing simple-to-knit short-rows. The sleeves are knit onto the body from the top-down.
The fabric for this cardigan is knit a slightly looser gauge than what is posted on the yarn band. When choosing a yarn, look for aran weight yarn with a posted gauge of 16 sts/4”. Use 1 to 2 needle sizes larger than posted for the selected yarn.
Sizes: XS (S, M, L)(XL, 2XL, 3XL) - to fit chest sizes 34 (36, 38, 40)(44, 48, 52)“
Yarn: Use a yarn that is worsted or a light weight aran with a posted gauge of 16 sts/4” (10 cm). Also, use a yarn that is not too heavy, for example a mix fiber yarn that contains acrylic with wool or a yarn that has a combination of fibers works best for this cardigan. Examples: Knit Picks City Tweed HW, Universal Yarns Classic Worsted, Spud & Chloe Sweater or Madeline Tosh Chunky --- all these yarns work because they are fairly light weight and the finished fabric knit in a 14 sts gauge falls just right.
Yardage: 1200 (1300, 1350, 1470)(1600, 1725, 1850) yards/ 1100 (1190, 1235, 1345)(1465, 1580, 1700) meters
Needles: U.S. 10 (6 mm) circular knitting needles to accommodate large number of stitches or 1-2 sizes larger than posted on yarn to get 14 sts/4” gauge (please use the needle size that gets gauge for the yarn that you are using)
U.S. 10 (6 mm) circular knitting needle – 16” long if not using magic loop for sleeves.
Notions: stitch markers, spare circular knitting needle to hold stitches, tapestry needle, 2-3 buttons (1”/2.5 cm)
Tip: If you work with a yarn that has acrylic, wash the finished cardigan, lay flat to dry. Then follow up and iron the fabric, with a kitchen towel or pillow case between the iron and fabric, with the iron set on steam.
