Several years ago I found a bracelet in the shape of a mathematical knot to present to one of my collaborators. Some months back it suddenly occurred to me that one could knit such a thing, but that it would be better as a necklace. There you have it! This pattern includes instructions for four different knotclaces.

Any fingering-weight or laceweight yarn will work for this pattern---it’s great for using leftovers from other projects, and especially good for scraps of luxury yarns.

It’s easy to create a longer knotclace by simply casting on more stitches.

The only knitting techniques used in the pattern are casting on, knitting (in the round), and casting off. The knot is created by configuring a circular needle in a special way, and diagrams are included as well as written instructions.
