Kari Mitts
This pattern is the companion to my Kari Slouchy Hat pattern. It features the same broken rib pattern, but in a slightly more compact gauge for optimal warmth and comfort.
Kari Mitts are an ideal project for gifting, or for a beginner glove knitter, because the broken rib stitch makes the sizing very forgiving. The chunky weight yarn creates a thick, squishy, cozy mitt that you won’t ever want to take off!
The mitts are made to hug the hand, but are very stretchy, which also makes them ideal for gifting. Most sizes fit a wide range of people.
For example:
- I typically wear a women’s M glove. The Ladies S/M size fits me, but also fits my mother who has a women’s XS sized hand, and also fits my husband who has a Men’s M sized hand.
- The “Kids” size fits both my 3 year old, and a women’s XXS hand, so it should fit most kids hands with varying levels of snugness.
- The Men’s L/XL size fits snugly on a large man’s hand, but fits loosely and comfortably on my Women’s M hand.
It’s an extremely versatile pattern!
As with the Kari Hat pattern, these can also be made by holding a worsted weight yarn double, which makes them great for stash busting!
