Juniperus ficus
Errata: If you have version 1.0 of the pattern, I wrote “k1” in the instructions where I should have written “kp” (knit 1, purl 1.) If you are working from the chart, you are probably fine.
This is the scarf pattern I am using in my introductory reversible lace class.
The pattern is provided in class.
This is a basic reversible lace. It uses 1×1 ribbing, double yarn-overs, and both left-leaning and right-leaning reversible decreases. The pattern begins with one-color Italian cast-on and ends with a tubular bind-off. The stitch pattern is a four-row repeat. Rows 1 & 3 are the same sequence but started at a different place in the sequence. Rows 2 & 4 are plain.
This is an “ad finitum” pattern, meaning you can work until the scarf is the length you like or until the yarn runs out.
Video tutorials are available on the designer’s blog (check January 2016) and on the designer’s YouTube channel.
Feza Yarns Harvest Worsted is now Urth Harvest Worsted. Same yarn, new label.
Available in 2 file formats!
Which file should you use?
Booklet file is half-sheet formatted to print as a center-staple booklet if you:
print 2 pages to a side
print on both sides of each leaf
print on margin-less 8.5 x 11 inch paper
(If you’ve taken a class with the designer after June 2012, this is the same format as her class handouts.)
The center will be a piece of paper that has pages 2 & 3 face up, and pages 4 & 1 face down.
Cover (possibly heavier paper) on bottom.
E-book file is half-sheet formatted but with all the pages in normal order and the blank inside covers deleted.
If you have a smaller tablet or you read off your smart phone, you shouldn’t have to zoom as much. You can also print this size if you print on 5.5 x 8 inch paper — i.e. half-sheet.
Version 1.2 published Monday 23 April 2018. No errata, per se. I’ve slightly revised the instructions based on class feedback.
