Jökull
Jökull is a unisex sock pattern that was named after the Icelandic word for glacier. The stranded pattern was inspired by the yokes of the typical lopapeysa or Icelandic sweater.
It is a top-down sock, featuring stranded knitting, a heelflap heel, and a round toe.
There are 3 sizes available: Small (64 stitches), Medium (72 stitches) and Large (80 stitches).
You’ll need approximately 90 to 130 grams of fingering weight sock yarn in the following amounts:
- Approximately 50-80 grams of main colour
- Approximately 30-40 grams of contrast colour 1
- Approximately 5-10 grams of contrast colour 2
Yarn + pattern kits are available on my webshop.
It is also possible to work the pattern with just 2 colours: in that case add the required amount for contrast colour 2 to the amount required for the main colour.
The pattern contains separate charts per colour scheme for those working with either a light or a dark main colour.
Other materials required are a set of knitting needles for working small circumferences in the round and darning needle.
This pattern contains 7 pages. Basic instructions are 3 pages and then there are 2 additional pages of charts for one colour scheme.
A big thank you goes out to my test knitters: Tescamaru, tyrannosaurusbex, hottann, Drahdiwawal, bikewi, and polwygle.
This pattern is included in my “Buy 3, get 1 free!” sale. Just add any 4 of my patterns to your cart and get the cheapest one for free
