“Joanna” is an easy to knit triangle shawl with an interesting surface. The combination of the hand-dyed yarn and the stripes of changing left and right leaned crosses (resp cables) make it a real eyecatcher.

This shawl is knitted sideways: You start knitting at one end of the length side and increase sts on one side only. Having reached the bottom tip you continue by decreasing those stitches again. It’s a perfect method, if you only have 2 skeins of wool - just stop increasing at the end of the first skein and start decreasing with the second skein. So you can always be sure to have enough yarn.

The left and right leaned crosses can be worked with or without cable needle (both methods are described in pattern).

Measurement
76 ½” x 21” (195 x 53 cm)

Material
I used two skeins of malabrigo “Sock” (color: Abril) - the color shades were very different, so I decided to knit each half with one skein. Therefore it looks like being bicolor. If you don’t like this effect, just choose yarn in one color. For the above mentioned measurements you need 800 meters of light fingering, resp sock yarn. But feel free to change dimensions as you like.
