Ironbark Cowl
The Ironbark Cowl is a lovely winter make, primarily consisting of a basketweave stitch design and a simple edging. The textured appearance of the main pattern is reminiscent of the thick bark of the Ironbark Eucalyptus tree.
This pattern is worked flat to create a rectangle. It is worked in short rows across the depth of the cowl. The cowl looks best when made using one colour, highlighting the texture of the stitches.
This design only requires approx 150g of 8ply/dk yarn.
Familiarity with basic crochet techniques and working in rows is desirable. You will be working front post and back post stitches. Please refer to my youtube tutorial for instructions on how to make post stitches if you are unfamiliar with the technique. https://youtu.be/MwVwuMbwjJY
The finished size of the cowl is approx 64cm in circumference and 22cm in depth.
It is written in English, and is available in both US and UK crochet terms.
The pattern has full colour photos and is easy to read and understand. A table for row tracking has been included for you to use, this allows you to mark off the repeated rows as you go and easily find your place within the pattern.
Please share photos of your finished items, as I love seeing the work of others :)
Happy Hooking!
Regards Elizabeth
