This Irish Shawl (from my Celtic Shawl Collection) is knit end-to-end in a completely seamless manner and will look great in many yarn weights. The pattern is easily adjusted to any size by simply adding or reducing repeat sections. The diagonal bias of the main shawl body really shows off hand-dyed yarns but is equally stunning in a solid color.
This shawl was inspired by a wonderful visit to Ireland. The design represents the rugged and rocky moors that are criss-crossed with rock walls, the steep Cliffs of Moher (aka the “Cliffs of Insanity” from the movie Princess Bride) with the fortress castle at the very top, and the most incredible Tree of Life jewelry designs at an outdoor market in Howth. Howth itself is a picturesque little seaside village with waves lapping right up to the edge of the main street.
Yarn required: 550 - 660 yards. Yarn usage will vary depending on gauge and specific yarn used. Recommend any fingering or DK weight yarn that has good stitch definition.
Update: Joined Border requires 10g or about 50 yds of yarn.
