Fundraiser I wanted to design a quick knit, cosy hat to help fund Childline/NSPCC, because they are always there for vulnerable children of all types. I’ve chosen a double stranded, washable and affordable, double-knit yarn for this super easy hat, to give a “super chunky” gauge. You could use any yarn you like if it meets the gauge. The hat has a simple contrasting stitch heart on the front and back.

I was inspired to design this warm winter hat by all the people and organisations who care for children when they need it. I wanted to design a quick knit, cosy hat to help fund Childline/NSPCC, because they are always there for vulnerable children of all types. They listen without judgement. They provide a safe space for children to talk things through. I’ve chosen a double stranded, washable and affordable, double-knit yarn for this super easy hat, to give a “super chunky” gauge. You could use any yarn you like if it meets the gauge. The hat has a simple contrasting stitch heart on the front and back.

The hat is knitted flat and visibly seamed, with one heart on the seam. The hat is designed to wordlessly communicate a “bad hair day”. Some people don’t like to talk about their feelings or just can’t express their emotions. If you feel a bit like you need some kindness you can communicate that by wearing the seam at the front.

This hat is a quick knit, with options for beginners. It isn’t designed to be perfect - because life and people aren’t perfect. It is sized from baby to baby boomer (large adult) – why not make one for the whole gang? It would look awesome in a ‘team’ photo in a range of colours.
