Harvey Honeycomb Hat
This is the perfect hat for last minute gifts. Using Bernat Roving, the toddler size takes only 1.5 hours, the child/tween hat only 2 hours, and the adult hat only 2.5 hours! The Harvey is great for men, women, and children and in super bulky yarn provides stylish warmth for the head and ears all winter long. For those living in warmer climates or for a versatile hat for the warmer months, using fingering weight yarn creates a slouchy hat that can be worn bohemian style or as a beret.
The pattern includes instructions for three sizes (Small: baby/toddler, Medium: child/tween, Large: adult one-size) in two different yarn weights (super bulky and fingering). Super Bulky yarn requires size #15 (10.0mm) DPNs and small circulars (optional) for knitting and #17 (12.75mm) for binding off. Fingering yarn requires #6 (4.0mm) DPNs and small circulars (optional) for knitting and #10.5 (6.5mm) for binding off. The gauge for Super Bulky is 9 sts x 12 rows in 4 inches on #15 needles in the pattern in the round and gauge for Fingering is 15.5 sts x 24 rows in 4 inches on #6 needles in the pattern in the round. You will need less than one skein for any size of hat.
