Happy Accident is everything you love about winter hats. It’s warm, soft, cozy, and oh-so-squishy, plus it’s fast, easy, and sized to fit everyone in your family!

Happy Accident takes the warmth and plushiness of bulky weight yarn and combines it with the soft halo and luster of Suri.

Pairing a bulky with a similar tone to the Suri creates a monotone halo of color as the strands appear to almost melt together. Think of cars with iridescent paint that looks different colors in different lighting.

Alternatively, pairing more contrasting colors results in a marled look in the stitches, while still creating a beautiful halo.

I paired dark grey bulky with Suri in colors with similar tone, creating a halo of color with the larger sizes, shown in Kale, Denim, Date Night, and Harbor. The smaller sizes, using Wish You Were Beer and Oh My Gourd, have the fun marl of different color tones. Cherry Merlot (the dark red) hits it right in the middle.

Be sure to check out Michelle, another beautiful Bulky & Suri hat from my BFF, Laura Dobratz! .

If Suri isn’t your jam, you can use Mohair or any other lace weight yarn, or just knit it in straight bulky!

Happy Accident gets its name from the Mistake Ribbing stitch.
