Hanging Pot Holders
Originally I decided to crochet these hanging pot holders to add a bit of color to my cloaked-in-shade fence/backyard area. People showed some interest in my little hangers though and asked for the pattern so here it is.
I use the word “pattern” very loosely - this is more of a general guideline. I simply wrote down what I did to make mine and how you can modify the instructions to suit your needs.
The pattern is written assuming the Crocheter has some general knowledge of basic crochet techniques - I did not go into a lot of detail though I did put in photos depicting certain parts of the pattern to provide a visual guide/aide.
Gauge is not overly important here so I did not include it. Simply use the corresponding hook for your chosen yarn and make sure you are happy with the fabric you are producing.
Yarn - I also did not really put any specific guidelines for yardage. I chose to do a bit of stashbusting and used up whatever odds and ends I happened to have on hand; my goal was to add some color so the more colors the better! I weighed it out though and you can get 1 hanger out of a smaller ball of Lily’s Sugar and Cream (or the equivalent) with leftovers so I estimated that they take on average (if you go by my instructions) 90 yds or so and that is a yardage-heavy estimate.
I have never written a crochet pattern before so if you find any mistakes or need something to be clearer, please let me know and I can make changes and/or help you any way I can.
Also, someone pointed out that this would be a very fun (and inexpensive - my plastic pots were only $.16 and I used stash yarn…) yarn bombing project. Just saying :D
