Gray Rose
I’m in love with every one of Bare Naked Wool’s neutral colors and gorgeous wools. And pairing these lovely, soft grays with just a scrap of brightly colored leftover yarn (my scrap is from a Julie Asselin skein) made for a fun project.
Knit in a stunning Romney and Merino 2ply like the Kent, these feminine flowers get a modern makeover. The depth and variation of color in the gray hues really pops when placed side by side. Plus, when placed off kilter in rows, the charming little blooms become a bit more sophisticated and less girly. Zoe here, who has entered her tweens, started middle school, and wouldn’t be caught dead in a little kid hat, agreed.
The Kent comes in two weights – so the DK gives you a smaller hat, and the Worsted is perfect for an adult head. Instructions ot alter depth or width further are in the pattern.
The design is an easy, fun knit – with a little slouch up top and a great, smushy pom. AND, you can use up your two skeins if you knit it twice, reversing the colors of the background and flowers on each hat. Give the second one to a friend!
PS - my hat is knit in Tide Pool (dark gray) and Beach Glass (light gray) - with a pop of Julie Asselin’s Leizu DK in Pressee a Froid.
