Frioche Blanket
You’ll need approximately 2100 meters of DK yarn (DK = approximately 200 meters per 100 grams), such as our Vigorous DK (115g/230 meters per skein). In that case, you’ll need 10 skeins, 2 of each color. You’ll use 4 colors that form a nice fade together, but they can also just be 4 colors that complement each other without forming a fade. The 5th color is the contrast color that you only see in the wide border you knit around the center part of the blanket.
Alternatively, as I did for the example, you can use the Basic Sock 4-ply yarn and knit the entire blanket with a double strand. The pattern is written for the 2023 advent kits (with 5 skeins), and you’ll need 2 kits of 5 skeins each. The example was knitted with 10 skeins of Wol met Verve Basic Sock 4-ply, 75% superwash wool, 25% biodegradable nylon. I opted for a not-too-perfect fade of 4 colors (4 x 2 skeins) and 1 contrast color (1 x 2 skeins) for the border.
