This is my original pattern for a basic pair of socks which I have been knitting for years. They are sized to fit UK shoe sizes 5 - 6 but are easily adjustable for different sizes.

The socks are knitted in the round using the magic loop method and one long circular needle. One 100g ball of sock yarn will give you a pair of socks with some left over for other projects.
