Flax Lily
Botanical name: Dianella Revoluta
These cute wee flowers bring a delicious splash of colour to the evergreen Dianellas. Found in every state of Australia except the Northern Territory, they flower in Spring and Summer.
Construction:
These flowers are created with basic knitting techniques; casting on and off and knitting. The styles are made from lengths of felted yarn. Basic hitch knots such as kids use to make friendship bracelets are used to create the peduncle.
The leaves are constructed using simple decreases and slipped stitches and look best when made in masses.
Skill Level:
Easy
This pattern was originally released as part of WARM: a large-scale collaborative knitting project that explored why the earth is warming and what we can do to make a positive change.
Knitters of all skill levels contributed to this large-scale piece that was exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ballarat in September 2016. It now has a permanent home in the Geelong Wool Museum.
