Construction
The Express Sweater is worked top down in flat and circular knitting. You will start by working the top of the back with short rows, and then work in stockinette stitch until you reach the underarms. You will place the stitches on hold and pick up the stitches along the cast on edge in order to work the left shoulder, with short rows and increases to shape the neckline. You will then work the right shoulder symmetrically, and then join both shoulders and cast on stitches for the front neckline. Once you reach the underarms, you will join the front and the back with cast on stitches for the underarms, and work the bottom of the body in circular knitting, in stockinette stitch and then 1x1 rib stitch for the bottom edge.
You will pick up the stitches along the armholes to work the sleeves in the round with the Magic Loop technique, and will end with 1x1 rib edges with the 6 mm needles. The double collar is also worked with the 6 mm needles in 1x1 rib stitch and with a few rows in double stockinette stitch to help fold the hem.
