If gothic romance vibes are your thing, this stunning hat inspired by the shadows and silhouettes in a moonlit forest is just the thing for you.

You will begin by working the folded brim in 1x1 ribbing using your cosy, woolly yarn, before switching to stockinette to create the background for your forest scene. Simple decreases will shape the hat’s crown to ensure a perfectly snug fit. Then, the next step is where the magic happens - you will introduce your tree silhouettes by picking up stitches just above the brim and working a beautifully delicate lace overlay with your mohair. No actual magic required for this part though; the lace pattern is perfectly intuitive and easy to follow. Please note, however, if you are using a circular needle, you will need to switch to DPNs once your stitches no longer comfortably stretch around the needle.
