Eaves
We had a great Steekalong for this design, you can view the thread for tips & tricks here.
Boxy, graphic drop-sleeve cardigan is engineered from the top down with steeked front and armholes. Sleeves are picked up and knit from armhole steek and collar is worked in one piece at center front opening. Hem Ribbing is accentuated with a squishy cable. Sleeve cuffs are extra long for a folded layer of bonus cozy. Colorwork and cables motifs are charted. Pattern is written for intermediate level knitters ready to dive in to steeking; basic steeking instructions are provided along with links for further information. Model is wearing Size 3 with approximately 18”/45.5 cm positive ease; recommended ease is 15-20”/38-51 cm for oversized look as shown or less for a more fitted style. To Fit guidance is provided and though a variety of sizes is given to choose from; a wide range of bodies fit can beautifully into the same size sweater at varying levels of ease; check out how the test knitters are wearing each of their sweaters with their preferred fit!
Fun fact: Eaves is named after Elsie Eaves, a pioneering American female engineer & the first female associate member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

TOOLS
Size 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles in length comfortable for working actual Finished Chest, Size 4 (3.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular needles, Size 3 (3.25 mm) circular needles (to match longer length of larger needles) & set of DPNs in both sizes, crochet hook suitable for provisional CO, stitch markers including distinctive marker for end of round, tools for preferred Steek method, scrap yarn for provisional cast on
Construction Note: Each Shoulder is worked and then joined so that sweater is completed as a boxy rectangle “in the round”. Because your garment has corners, it will be necessary to manipulate your needles at each turn until you have several inches of fabric to work with. Flexible, slick needles are recommended and a having a third (or fourth) set of larger needles (any length) on hand is not required but makes for a smoother transition and is recommended. Test knitters preferred having extra sets of needles at the beginning of their projects; a magic loop style method can also be utilized in lieu of additional needles.
