Double Vision is a stunning afghan. It appears to have 55 different shades though it only uses 10 ordinary, easily available colours.
The afghan you see in the photos was made in DK (Double Knitting) yarns. In theory, you can use any yarn of your choice but, in reality, yarns heavier than DK would make the afghan uncomfortably heavy. You could make a floor rug instead, if you wish to use heavier yarns.
We once exhibited Double Vision in a chapel, between two stained glass windows. It outshone the windows!
This pattern seems to inspire people to create their own variations. We have seen several, including a crochet version worked in a range of pastel colours for a baby. (See Projects)
It is not a conventional knitting pattern. If you can knit garter stitch you can make this. You do not have to be able to follow a normal knitting pattern as the instructions are in simple words. It is suitable for beginners and experienced knitters. You do not have to work to a particular gauge.
Contrary to various comments, it is not made in separate squares. It is made in ten L-shaped pieces.
If you want to see the construction methods of any of our afghans, the information is on the Afghan Classification page on our web site.
The PDF includes a sheet where you can keep track of your own colourways before you begin.
Read the story of this afghan on Ravelry or on Woolly Thoughts web site.
We also have a cushion version of Double Vision, available as an individual pattern, or in the Cushy Numbers book.
