TECHNIQUES USED FOR THIS DESIGN
Links to videos for selected techniques are included. I look for videos as close as possible to the instructions I have written. Sometimes they may be slightly different but still very helpful.

  • Long tail cast-on
  • Bind-off
  • Cable cast-on
  • Picking-up and knitting stitches
  • Weave side seam stitch to stich
  • I-cords
  • Single crochet

Regardless of their age babies and children’s actual body measurements vary. It is helpful to use the FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS, in the photo of the schematic and sizes, which refers to this specific garment only. It can help you choose the fit you prefer.

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
-Yarn Bee – Warm and Cozy

  • 78% acrylic – 13% nylon – 9% polyester
  • 3.5 ounces-(100 grams)—317 yards-(290 meters)
  • 2(2—3—3—3—4) skeins

For the cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

FOR A SUBSTITUTE YARN

  • One size 8-(5 mm) or smaller double-pointed needle to hold left front stitches or spare needle or long stitch holder
