Cranberry Fizz Shawl
Festive bubbles and a bright burst of colour: a Cranberry Fizz is a fabulous choice for a holiday toast. In a season defined by sweetness, the cranberry’s unmistakable tart bite offers a refreshing contrast. Even if you’re not a fan of the flavour, that vibrant jewel-tone red is hard to resist.
Cranberries sidled their way into holiday traditions by way of Thanksgiving, tagging along with turkey. But with their gleaming good looks, they would have been welcome on their own merits. They really are beautiful, especially for something that grows in a bog. Whether you stew them into a sauce, use them to garnish a cocktail, or string them into a garland and hang them outside for the squirrels to enjoy, cranberries have a lot to add to your celebrations.
The Cranberry Fizz Shawl is knit from a single skein of fingering weight yarn. This delicate triangular shawlette is so easy to wear. With just the right balance of snuggle and style, it is equally at home paired with a party frock or a t-shirt and jeans. Simple eyelet lace and stockinette stripes, finished with a picot bind-off, are highlighted by optional beads to add a touch of sparkle. If you’ve never made a beaded shawl before, it’s so much easier than you think! I’ve included instructions in the pattern.
