Compass is worked in the round from the bottom up. It begins with a long tail tubular cast on, and then a ribbing is worked. Increases are worked in the chart in accommodate the cable stitches, and once the body is complete, decreases are worked before the final ribbing. It is bound off using a tubular bind off.
The cowl is written for two sizes. Pay attention to which size you are working when knitting from the charts and work the correct number of repeats of the of honeycomb pattern accordingly.
If you prefer not to work the tubular cast on and bind off, a long tail cast on and binding off in pattern may be used in their place.

Kelbourne Woolens Scout (100% wool; 274 yds/100 gm skein): orchid heather 519, 1 (2) skeins.
GAUGE
31 sts and 30 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in Honeycomb Patt on larger needles, after blocking.
26 st Cable Braid = 3.25” (8 cm) on larger needles after blocking.
NEEDLES
1 – 16” (40 cm) US 4 (3.5 mm) circular.
1 – 16” (40 cm) US 6 (4 mm) circular.
Check your gauge and adjust needle size(s) accordingly if necessary.
NOTIONS
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, cable needle, spare smaller circular needle for tubular bind off.
