Botanical name: Epacris impressa

The Common Heath is Victoria’s floral emblem and can be found in coastal heath and inland open forest. This larger than life version looks beautifully either singularly or bunched with other knitted wildflowers. You can find it flowering in the wild in Autumn, Winter and Spring.

Construction:
This Australian wildflower is constructed in the round using magic loop (or your preferred method for small circumference knitting) and i-cord. The small spiky leaves are made with small pieces of felted yarn.

Skill Level:
Intermediate

This pattern was originally released as part of WARM: a large-scale collaborative knitting project that explored why the earth is warming and what we can do to make a positive change.

Knitters of all skill levels contributed to this large-scale piece that was exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ballarat in September 2016. It now has a permanent home in the Geelong Wool Museum.
