You may have that fabulous skein of sock yarn in your stash, a yarn that would look best on its own without any lace or cables. For that kind of yarn a plain vanilla sock is a good choice. And the sock will be just as fabulous as the yarn!
Or you just want to cast on something mindless to bring to your knit night.
For those occasions, this is the pattern to use.

The socks are knit in the round and they are made toe-up with a gusset and heel extension using short rows. This pattern supports the Magic Loop method but if you rather use dpns you can adjust it for your needs.

The pattern contains three different sizes, so you can find a size to fit your foot. The size tells you the circumference of the foot and the foot length is adjustable.

Sizes:
Small (Medium, Large)
The sock’s circumference around the foot is 15.5 (18, 20) cm, to fit foot circumferences of 16-20 (19-23, 21-25) cm.
The length of the sock is adjustable.

There is also a Cloette Sport sock pattern, written for thicker yarn.
