This beautiful Classic Cable Chevron Afghan will be loved by everyone! This is not your average chevron blanket crochet pattern. It has a unique stitch used in the valley’s of the afghan and the cables running directly up the peaks to bring texture and a touch of class to this throw.

Skill level: Intermediate because it uses cables. There are many photos to help with the stitch placement though so if you are able to work crochet patterns with an “Easy” skill level, you should be able to work this.

Materials: I used 2520 yards of Red Heart Soft yarn to make a 54”x60” throw

Crochet Hook: Size I (5.5mm)

Finished Size: 54” x 60” or Customize (Instructions are given to help you easily customize your project to the size you need from photo props to as large as you want)

Gauge: 6 dc & 3 rows = 3”

Terminology: US crochet terms

Stitches/Abbreviations: st(s) - stitch(es), sl st - slip stitch, ch - chain, yo - yarn over, sc - single crochet, hdc - half double crochet, dc - double crochet

Special Stitches:

Hdc Foundation Chain: If you’re unfamiliar with foundation chains, this photo tutorial may help http://craftingfriendsdesigns.blogspot.com/2014/12/hdc-chainless-foundation.html

If you prefer a basic beginning chain, chain the required amount + 2 extra, turn, hdc in 2nd chain from hook and each chain across

Front Post Treble Crochet (FPtr): Yo twice, insert hook from front to back to front around indicated stitch, yo and pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook3x

Back Post Treble Crochet (BPtr): Yo twice, insert hook from back to front to back around indicated stitch, yo and pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook3x

Block Stitch: dc, ch 3, work 3 dc around first dc made

Notes:
Beginning ch-3 counts as a dc

Photos showing stitch placement are referenced as P1, P2, P3 etc. There are 2 pdf’s availalbe. One has the stitch placement photos within the pattern for easy reference. The 2nd has the stitch placement photos at the end of the pattern to easily leave off when printing

When changing colors, do so in the last step of the last stitch of the row before the color change

If you would like your Cable section to be longer before crossing the stitches, just repeat rows 6 & 7 two or more times prior to repeating rows 4 & 5
