Here is a fun addition to your Christmas morning breakfast table, a Christmas Tree Egg Hat. This is a super pattern for new knitters as you can practice your knits and purls on a smaller project. Instead of using buttons you could decorate with embroidery or sequins. You will only need a few grammes of yarn to make the tree, so it is an ideal project to use up ends of a yarn ball to avoid waste.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the egg cosy is knitted in acrylic DK yarn on single pointed needles (not in the round).

NEEDLES
A pair of 3.5mm straight single pointed knitting needles (US 4)

RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; a few grammes in Green.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle and buttons to decorate.

SIZES
One size only - 8cm tall.

For beginners and above, other techniques used include decreases, casting on and off, knits and purls, and seaming to finish.
