Discover your inner love of cables and lace while knitting the beautifully-textured Châle Aix shawl. Châle Aix is knit from the top down using basic cables forming an X-pattern throughout as well as a center panel that combines multiple-sized cables that are offset by columns of cabled eyelets. A cabled edge adds the perfect finishing touch.
Châle Aix is a terrific because it keeps your interest the entire time you’re knitting thanks to multiple cable sizes, various types of increases as well as a fun cabled edge. The pattern is easily memorized and doesn’t require too much counting. (Though I recommend lots of stitch markers!)
Since the lace-y portions are kept to a minimum, it also makes for a thicker fabric to keep you warmer on cool days and nights.
Even knit nights won’t distract you from making progress on this shawl!
Dimensions Small – Approx. 49” x 26” x 7” Large – Approx. 78” x 49” x 7”
Shawls are shown in Olive and Two Ewe Poe in Silver Linings (small) and Pot of Pentas (large) color ways and Olive and Two Ewe Twain in Sooper Excited color way (large).
Special thanks to Yarn it & Haberdashery for all their support with my designs and picture-taking!
Your project pages are appreciated - and they also let me enjoy it again vicariously through you! THANKS!
Don’t worry so much about gauge and dimensions – they are only a guide. If you have at least 400 yards for the small shawl, you will have enough unless your gauge is insanely loose. If you have a skein of only 385 yards, you will probably run out and need part of a second skein regardless of your gauge.
Always be sure to pick up a second skein if you’re not sure and if you’re able. Better to have to take it back and exchange it than to run out while binding off!**
FYI: Small sample shown, in Olive and Two Ewe Poe in Silver Linings was knit at a tighter gauge and used 383 yards of yarn
