This long, skinny cat themed scarf is knit using the double knitting technique, the finished piece is double sided and double thickness, a bit like two separate pieces being sewn together back to back, stocking/stockinette stitch is uppermost on both sides with the colours reversed on the ‘wrong side’ - although you end up with two right sides! The two sides or layers are knit at the same time by first knitting a stitch from the side facing you and then purling a stitch from the opposite side. If you have not used this technique before all will become clear as you go.

Double knitting creates a looser tension than would be normal when using the same yarn and recommended needle size; it makes a lovely soft, squishy fabric using a wool mix yarn.

The pattern is 19 pages long to accommodate the number of motif charts, you may wish to pick and choose which motifs to use. The charts could also be used for Fair Isle/stranded knitting projects.

Size: 15.5cm/6in wide x 210/82.5in long
The scarf could be made shorter or longer by altering the number of motifs used. However, this would affect the amount of yarn needed.

Note: The scarf used just about all of the two 100g balls (2 x 326yds) of yarn, one in each colour, so you would need to use your swatch yarn for the scarf.

Charts: You will need to read the charts when knitting the motifs. The double knitting technique is explained in the pattern.
