I wanted to design a poncho based on the broad leaves of waterlilies and their buds….I was inspired by Castalia.

Castalia is an hybrid subgenus (synonym) for the water lily Nymphaea nouchali. It is an hardy lotus producing beautiful blue or red flowers. Castalia takes its name from the transformed nymph muse inspiring poetry from the waters in her spring at Delphi.

This is a pattern for a poncho. It is knit from the collar down in one piece, in the round. There is raglan shaping for the shoulders and size is easily increased. The majority of the poncho is in seed st with a budding lace edging.
