Cannon Street (cardi & pullover)
Named for the location of my most-local Local Yarn Shop in Hamilton (Handknit Yarn Studio), this is quite simply a stockinette sweater for worsted weight yarn. I like working my sweaters in pieces from the bottom up, and wanted a few ‘basic’ sweaters to add to my own closet. This pattern is the result - to share with knitters who might be itching to fill the same gaps in their wardrobe, or perhaps with newer knitters wanting to try something simpler as they embark on sweater knitting. It includes waist shaping and longer cuffs for contemporary fit.
This sweater is worked in pieces from the bottom up, and then seamed together once all pieces are finished. The sweater is finished by picking up stitches around the neckline to create a ribbed collar, or to create the button-bands for the cardigan. Consult pattern schematic and gauge, as well as your own desired measurements for best fit at bust and across shoulders, and feel free to modify the pattern notes if it will achieve a better fit for you.
I use Ultra Alpaca worsted and Cascade 220 Heathers in the samples shown (all modelled in the 3rd pattern size), but this would be appropriate for a variety of different worsted weight yarns.
