This is my free pattern contribution to the Scarf of the Month Club 2017 CAL for June. A PDF version will be available in a few days for $3.00 if you prefer this option.
Red Heart sent me free samples of the Red Heart Fashion Soft to try and it is soft, lightweight and lovely to crochet with.
The Camello Bandana Scarf is a feminine scarf with multiple styling options. This versatile scarf is lightweight and designed with comfort in mind.
This finished scarf measures 33 inches wide by 16.5 inches tall.
The gauge is approximately 5 sets of (1 sc, 5 dc) in 7 inches and
approximately 10 rows following the pattern (sc row, ch 3 row) in 4 inches.
You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern - just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size of your project will also be different.
You can wear this in the fall and winter as a Bandana Scarf - allowing the majority of the finished project to rest in the open neckline of your coat without the extra bulk on your shoulders and back.
You can wear this in the spring, summer evenings and fall as a small shawl to cover your shoulders from cooler air.
You can also continue the pattern repeats until you have crocheted a regular sized shawl - which would be perfect as a comfort shawl or prayer shawl.
You can stop the repeats sooner to have a pretty head scarf.
The design is created using a repeat of 2 rows beginning after Row 7. It is simple and easy to crochet, using only single crochet, double crochet and chain stitches. The edging mimics the rest of the design and is crocheted on 2 sides only; with the addition of 2 tr stitches at the tip of the scarf.
The entire design is crocheted without cutting your yarn. You will have only two ends to sew in when you are done.
I think the versatility of this design makes it a great project - for personal use and as a gift.
Have fun with your yarn!
