This chunky hat is textural collage of cables, a Cablage! Hold one strand of bulky yarn together with one strand of fingering weight wool for a subtle marled effect. Brooklyn Tweed Quarry yields a lofty woolly fabric, ideal for cabled knitting. You can also hold one strand of aran weight wool together with one strand of fingering weight wool to achieve the chunky gauge.

Chunky weight
Hold 1 strand of bulky or aran weight yarn together with 1 strand of fingering weight yarn for the marled effect or just hold 1 strand of chunky weight yarn for a solid color version.

Sample uses 1 strand of BT Quarry + 1 strand
of fingering weight merino.

200yds / 183m is required for each strand of yarn.

Needles
40” US 10 / 6mm circular or size needed to obtain gauge.
Magic loop method is used for knitting in the rnd.
DPNs can be used instead of circular needles.

Notions
1 stitch marker, tapestry needle

Gauge
18 sts & 20 rows = 4” / 10cm in honeycomb cables

The recommended gauge with BT Quarry + one strand of fingering weight wool held together is quite tight and dense for a very crisp defined cables. If you prefer a more relaxed fabric that isn’t as thick, I recommend using one strand of Aran weight held together with one strand of fingering weight yarn.
