Every summer I find myself suddenly without anything hand-knit to wear – even the biggest wool-lovers among us will have to admit that Merino tends to lose its appeal once it’s 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) or more. So this summer I thought I would be clever and knit myself a shawlette out of a nice cotton yarn with long color changes. It has a cute little bud-stitch pattern that has a subtle lace-like appearance, biased construction and wavy or pointy edges. You can knit it until your yarn is used up, just to the size you love to wear. Knit it now using a cotton or cotton blend so you will have it ready for next summer (unlike me, who finished it just now in the fall), or use a cozy woolen yarn with pretty color changes (there are some great ones around!) to be stylish and warm this season.

Jeden Sommer passiert es: Plötzlich fehlt mir etwas Handgestricktes, das auch ab 30 Grad tragbar ist – denn auch die größten Woll-Fans unter uns müssen zugeben, dass Merinowolle sich bei solchen Temperaturen irgendwann nicht mehr so gut anfühlt… Also habe ich es diesen Sommer getan und ein Tuch aus einem hübschen Baumwollgarn mit Farbverlauf gestrickt. Das süße Knospenmuster hat eine schöne Struktur, die schräge Konstruktion macht Spaß zu stricken, und die unterschiedlich gewellten bzw. gezackten Kanten geben dem ganzen noch das gewisse Etwas. Man kann es stricken, bis alles Garn verbraucht ist oder eine schöne Tuchgröße erreicht ist. Stricke es jetzt in einem Baumwollgarn, damit es für den nächsten Sommer bereit liegt (und nicht, wie bei mir, erst im Herbst fertig ist), oder aus einem schönen Farbverlaufsgarn aus Wolle, damit es Dich noch diesen Winter wärmt.
