Brownstone Ivy is a half-ellipse shaped lace shawl with vines twisting and color blocking, knit using the two-color brioche stitch. Grab 4 skeins of contrasting fingering weight yarn for this color-blocked shawl!!
This shawl pattern was knit in collaboration with two awesome yarn shops in Brooklyn, NY: Brooklyn General Store, and Argyle Yarn Shop! I wanted to create an exciting brioche lace shawl that would keep changing and keep the knitter truly engaged. A brioche lace pattern twists and grows with the shawl, mimicking vines of ivy growing up the side of an old brownstone in Brooklyn.
There are some fabulous kits available through Brooklyn General Store! Click here to see them!
Skill Level: Intermediate. Basic brioche skills are not required, but are recommended. Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases.
Construction Notes: This half-ellipse shaped shawl is knit from center back down, with increases along the edges. The vine brioche lace stitch pattern begins almost immediately, while continuing to grow with the shawl. In the first few sections, the stitch pattern is very condensed. But starting in Section Three, the even brioche rows between the lace rows grows and grows, until finally being very open when changing colors for the border.
This pattern is both written and charted for your convenience!
