You won’t need a cable needle to create the twists and turns in this hat’s mock cable motif – it’s all done with simple decreases and increases. The crown shaping grows naturally from the pattern below, taking the interlacing rib to its tip.

• MATERIALS AND NOTIONS 1 skein of Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend (30% silk, 70% extrafine merino, 300 yds/270m per 100g skein); #2444 Orinocco. US #5 (3.75mm) set of dpns or a short circular. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge. Stitch markers; yarn needle.
